Ponderosa High School Athletics
Hierarchy of Communication
The Douglas County Board of Education and Ponderosa High School believe that complaints and grievances are best handled and resolved as close to their origin as possible. Therefore, the proper channeling of complaints will be as follows:
- Assistant Coach/Position Coach
- Head Coach
- High School Athletic Director
- Principal
- District Athletic Director
- Director of High Schools
- Board of Education
We believe that complaints are best handled when both sides work together to find a solution at the lowest possible level.
Step One: Informal Level
- Contact the Assistant Coach, Position Coach or Head Coach (depending on the level at which your son or daughter participates in).
- If a resolution is not reached, request a meeting with the Coach’s supervisor.
- If you still cannot resolve the complaint, then go to the Athletic Director or Principal, (depending on who you meet with on Step 3).
- If your issue is still not resolved, please contact Derek Chaney, the District Athletic Director.
Step Two: Formal Level
- You must fill out a Formal Complaint Form (available through Cindy Jones, 303-387-0042 or cindy.jones@dcsdk12.org).
- The form is then filed with Dan McMinimee, Director of High School Education, who will contact you within 5 working days of receiving the complaint form to set up a meeting.
- The meeting will be scheduled for a mutually agreeable time within 10 working days after you are contacted.
- A written decision will be provided within 5 working days after your meeting.
Step Three:
The Ponderosa Boy's Lacrosse Program will follow these guidelines for parent and coach communication protocol. Additionally, Coaches will not address parents about their sons playing time or position. If a player has a question about their playing time or position, they must take their concerns directly to their coach.
